PlayStation’s live-service shooter Concord will launch at $40
Concord, a new live-service sci-fi shooter from PlayStation's Firewalk Studios, appears to be priced around $40 USD, much like Helldivers 2.
The details:
Ahead of pre-orders going live, a Resetera user (via Push Square) discovered that the Australian PlayStation Store currently lists the standard edition of Concord at $59.95 AUD ($40 USD) and the deluxe edition at $94.95 ($60 USD).
This is the same price as Helldivers 2, and it appears it will be the same in the UK and US, according to their respective stores. Sony's decision to charge less than $70 for a AAA game was praised back in March, allowing more players to get involved in the multiplayer experience despite ongoing economic challenges.
Although the cost of entry may be lower, it is unclear whether Concord will be successful after its gameplay and cinematic trailers received overwhelming negative feedback from viewers. Many criticized the 5v5 team-based shooter for being "generic" with poor character designs, drawing comparisons to Overwatch and VALORANT.
Concord's beta will begin next month, with the full game available on PC and PS5 on August 23. Those who purchase the deluxe edition will receive three days of early access, character skins, and a Monarch Pack.
