Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive announces more layoffs

Behaviour Interactive, the studio best known for Dead by Daylight, has announced that it will lay off approximately 7% of its workforce as part of its restructuring.

The details:

  • The developer announced the job cuts in a new press release (via GamesIndustry.biz), confirming that up to 95 employees will be laid off, with 70 of those based at its Montreal headquarters. According to the company, the "structural changes" were driven by a renewed focus on its "historical strengths."

  • This is Behaviour's second wave of layoffs this year, after approximately 45 employees from various departments were laid off from its Montreal-based team in January. The developer cited "changing market conditions" for the layoffs, which prompted it to change the scope of its ongoing projects.

  • The studio confirmed that the job losses would have no effect on the development of Dead by Daylight, which released its Dungeons & Dragons Chapter earlier this week.

  • Behaviour has acquired a number of studios over the past few years, including Midwinter Entertainment in 2022, SockMoney Studios and Codeglue in 2023, and Fly Studio in March. It has also opened offices in Toronto and Cornwall.
