Sega successfully sues online troll for harassing an employee
Sega has revealed that it won a legal battle against a social media user who sent "excessive slanderous and insulting comments" to one of its employees over a long period of time.

As reported by Eurogamer, the company issued a statement on its Japanese corporate website confirming that it had taken further legal action after an individual had "made excessive slanderous and insulting comments on social media against one of our employees for a long time."
According to Sega, the court agreed that the troll's personal information should be provided to the company, which resulted in the company contacting and "negotiating" with the individual. The troll has agreed to a settlement that includes paying damages to the affected employee, deleting the hateful comments, and promising not to repeat the same behavior in the future.
Sega added that it will take similar action against anyone else who makes "announcements of violent acts, threats, and intimidation" against its employees, and that it considers such acts to be "serious human rights issues." The company also stated that everyone should read its Customer Harassment Policy, which was implemented last year, to avoid landing themselves in hot water.
The owner of Sonic the Hedgehog is not the only gaming company that has taken action against harassment. Destiny developer Bungie was awarded nearly half a million dollars in damages last year after a troll failed to appear in court after repeatedly threatening a community manager, forcing the employee to step back from their role for an extended period of time.
