Disney has been the latest victim of a security breach, with hackers allegedly leaking over 1 TB of project plans and sensitive employee information from the company's Slack.

The details:

  • As reported by Hackread, the hacking group NullBulge claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming that the leak contains "every message and file possible" from Disney's 10,000 internal Slack channels. This includes personal and log-in information for its employees, as well as details about future collaborations and games.

  • So far, more details about Disney's collaboration with Epic Games' Fortnite have emerged, and a sequel to Aliens: Fireteam Elite is believed to have been revealed by a file discovered in the breach. Fireteam Elite 2 is reportedly set for Q3 2025, and "no additional microtransactions are currently planned," though the presentation was created in 2021, and plans may have changed since.

  • Disney is not the only major company in the gaming industry that has experienced a data breach via Slack. In 2022, a teenager gained access to Rockstar Games' Slack channels, resulting in one of gaming's biggest leaks in history, with early footage of Grand Theft Auto VI surfacing online more than a year before its official reveal trailer.
