Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has confirmed that its next title will be announced at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, but it is unclear whether it will be based on a new or existing IP.

The details:

  • The studio announced the reveal during a recent livestream (via VGC), confirming that it will be shown off at TGS, which will take place in Chiba City from September 26 to September 29. The developer did not reveal any additional information about the project but had previously stated that fans would be "surprised" by the game.

  • The project may be linked to its most popular franchise, Like a Dragon, but given that its most recent mainline entry, Infinite Wealth, was released earlier this year, it's more likely to be a spin-off. RGG is also behind the Judgment series, which takes place in the Like a Dragon universe and could be a candidate for a new game, as the most recent entry, Lost Judgment, is nearly three years old.

  • It is also worth noting that Amazon's adaptation of Like a Dragon, titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza, is set to premiere in October. RGG's next game could be a series tie-in, such as a remake of an older game or a new title based on its story.
