Dive into stories in The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales
The Bookwalker is a narrative adventure where you play as a protagonist able to dive into books.
Etienne Quist, a writer-turned-thief, travels between reality and book worlds to steal legendary items like Thor's Hammer, Excaliber, and more, in a quest to restore his ability to write.
The game was created by indie company DO MY BEST, developers of the 2016 train management, survival game The Final Station, and published by tinyBuild, known for Hello Neighbor, Potion Craft, Speedrunners, and several more highly revered indie titles. It's no wonder the game has received a plethora of "Positive" reviews on Steam after the first day.
In The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales you take on the role of someone who is able to enter books and loot valuable fictional objects. The real-world gameplay takes place in first person, with your character able to explore his workshop, craft items, and select what books to dive into. When you dive into a book you're swapped to an isometric viewpoint where a point-and-click interface is used to explore, loot, engage in dialogue, and solve puzzles.
With the unique, unconventional puzzle style across fiction and reality, you can dive in and out of the book as much as you like. When you come back to the real world you can use the items you found in the book to craft useful items, such as a lockpick or crowbar, or you can shop to sell and buy items to aid you on your quest.
With a clever and unique story and gameplay mechanics and beautiful artwork, the game is definitely worth putting on your radar.
Take the time to explore an endless amount of stories in one world with The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales, out now on Steam.
