Arrowhead has confirmed that the second batch of items from Helldivers 2's Killzone crossover will be given to players for free, following criticism of the first wave's high pricing.

The details:

  • Helldivers 2's first ever collaboration, featuring Killzone 2-themed armor, weapons, and in-game items, was released earlier this week. The items, which were scheduled to be released in two waves, sparked backlash when players discovered that just one of the two sets cost almost $20 in "Super Credits," the game's currency.

  • Arrowhead responded to the situation by clarifying that Sony was not responsible for the pricing, as fans had speculated, and apologized for setting such a high price. Creative director Johan Pilestedt explained on X that the decision not to offer a "Warbond" to purchase the entire set, as with other extra content, was due to concerns that "having a higher priced Warbond would carry negative sentiment."

  • Arrowhead has now given players the entire second set of items for free, three days before its original scheduled release. This includes the AC-2 Obedient Armor Set, the PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle, the StA-11 SMG, and the Defender of Our Dream Banner and Cape.

  • Despite the criticism, it appears that the first wave's pricing will remain unchanged. However, Arrowhead and Killzone developer Guerrilla have confirmed that the in-game "Superstore" will now rotate the items out ten days after their release, rather than the previous five, to give players a greater chance to purchase them. The studios also stated that they are investigating the possibility of offering the items permanently in the future.
