Activision has confirmed that it has recast some of the actors in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Zombies mode due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, after fans noticed a difference in the voices of the characters.

The details:

  • Earlier this month, fans noticed that the voices of several beloved Black Ops 6 Zombies cast members, including William Peck (Zeke Alton) and Samantha Maxis/S.A.M. (Julie Nathanson), were different from those in previous games. The changes were not announced by Activision, and it was discovered that Peck's voice had changed between the August trailer for the map "Terminus" and the game's November release.

  • In statements to Game Developer, both the publisher and Alton confirmed that the cast for Black Ops 6 has been changed. The actor explained that fans have contacted him due to a lack of credits for Peck's actor, indicating that it could still be Alton. However, he added that he believes the situation "unfairly represents my abilities as a performer."

  • Activision stated that it respects the actors' "personal choice" but "won't add new commentary about the ongoing negotiations with SAG-AFTRA." The short statement from the publisher concluded with the hope that all parties involved will reach a "mutually beneficial outcome" as soon as possible.

  • The current SAG-AFTRA strike, which began in July, was called after the union accused companies of failing to meet its demands for the use of AI voice acting in video games. Negotiations on the issue began in late 2022, and calls to strike were approved the following year.
