Valve has opened sign-ups for its Steam Frame VR headset, confirming the pricing for the first time — and it is significantly more expensive than many had hoped.

The details:

  • The Steam Frame comes in two configurations: a 256GB kit at $1,059 / £889, and a 1TB kit at $1,299 / £1,089. Both include a pair of controllers. A power supply unit is not included and must be purchased separately. Fans can join the waitlist on the Steam Frame store page.
  • Half-Life: Alyx, Valve's acclaimed 2020 VR title, is bundled with every purchase. The game drew nearly one million new VR users to Steam at launch and remains one of Metacritic's highest-rated PC games ever.
  • The Steam Frame was announced alongside the Steam Machine console in November 2025 and was originally due to launch earlier in 2026 before being delayed. Valve previously acknowledged that sharply rising RAM and component prices — the same costs that pushed the Steam Machine above $1,000 — had forced the delay and affected the final pricing, which ended up "significantly more" than the company originally intended to charge.
