Valve's new SteamVR headset could release by the end of this year as mass production reportedly begins

It has been reported that Valve's new SteamVR headset could arrive by the end of 2025 as it has been claimed to have entered mass production recently.

The details:

  • Valve’s long-rumored next-generation SteamVR headset, codenamed “Deckard,” has reportedly entered mass production. According to the XR Research Institute (via UploadVR and Insider Gaming), between 400,000 and 600,000 units are currently being produced, suggesting a possible announcement and release before the end of 2025. The device is expected to launch under the name Valve Frame.
  • Adding credibility to the report, Valve insider Brad Lynch claims that Deckard DV1 and DV2 models have appeared in the SteamVR Beta, with DV said to identify the final unit before a consumer release. While pricing and specifications remain under wraps, the headset is said to launch alongside new “Roy” controllers designed specifically for the device.
  • The upcoming headset joins a growing list of rumored Valve hardware projects. Earlier this year, a device called the Valve Fremont surfaced on Geekbench, featuring a six-core/12-thread processor, 8GB of DDR5 memory, and a custom AMD RX 7600 GPU, which is believed to be another attempt at a PC-console hybrid. With both devices reportedly in development, 2025 could mark a major year for Valve’s hardware lineup.
