Blizzard has officially unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever at BlizzCon 2026 — the long-rumoured Classic Plus that will serve as a permanent home for players who want to stay in vanilla WoW without the game advancing through expansions.

The details:

  • WoW: Forever launches worldwide on November 4, 2026 at 3pm Pacific, with a beta beginning September 17. It is included in the standard WoW subscription at no additional cost.
  • The game is set in the first year of World of Warcraft's original timeline and is designed to embody the principles of the classic game. The level cap is set at 60 and Blizzard has confirmed it will stay there "indefinitely," distinguishing it from progression servers where the cap eventually rises.
  • Forever launches with three new zones, over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, and two new raids — all original content built for this version of the game. A new playable race, the Skyborne, is also being introduced at launch.
  • Blizzard is positioning the game as a "permanent home" for Classic players rather than a temporary server or event. The reveal cinematic featured a dwarf and his bear crossing old Azeroth, leaning heavily into the nostalgia the game is built around.
  • The announcement resolves years of speculation about Classic Plus, a concept that has been discussed and requested by the WoW community since the original Classic servers launched in 2019.
