Valve has massively increased Steam Deck OLED prices worldwide, citing continued issues with the costs of hardware rather than any upgrades to the system’s internals.

  • As announced by Valve on Steam, the 512GB Steam Deck OLED has jumped from $549 to $789 in the US, while the 1TB OLED has risen from $649 to $949, a hike of more than 40% on the top-end model.
  • Valve says “Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed” and blames “the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges.” The worldwide price increase for memory and storage has been accelerated by the rapid development of AI systems, causing widespread issues for the tech industry as a whole, with the likes of Nintendo and Sony confirming price hikes.
  • Despite the increase, both OLED models are now back in stock with 3–5 business day shipping available after months of shortages. Valve is also still offering cheaper “certified refurbished” units, including 512GB and 1TB OLED models starting from around $629 and $759, respectively.
