Eidos-Montréal has announced another round of layoffs, with 124 employees being let go across its production and support teams, while studio head David Anfossi is also leaving the company.

The details:

  • The Deus Ex studio confirmed the cuts on Monday via LinkedIn, explaining that the cuts are the result of “changing project needs.” "Today is a difficult day for our studio and reflects the need to adapt and concentrate efforts where Eidos-Montréal can be most effective," the studio wrote. "We are deeply grateful to the team members impacted; this decision is not a reflection of their talent, dedication, or performance. Supporting those impacted with care and respect remains our priority while ensuring continuity for the teams moving forward."
  • Company CEO David Anfossi is also departing after 19 years at Eidos-Montréal, with the studio confirming that it will issue an update relating to its leadership at a later date. "We thank David for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors," it said. “A transition plan is underway, and further updates will be shared as new leadership is finalized."
  • The announcement follows similar layoffs at the studio in recent years, including 75 staff cuts last year and 97 the year before, resulting in a total of almost 300 employees being let go.
