Rockstar Games announces official GTA Online roleplay server with a closed beta starting September 8
Rockstar Games

Rockstar has announced nopixel V, an officially sanctioned version of the long-running NoPixel GTA V roleplay server, with a closed beta going live on September 8 through the Rockstar Games Launcher. The launch marks the first time Rockstar has formally backed a dedicated GTA Online RP server, nearly three years in the making.

The details:

  • The closed beta is invite-only, with 439 players on the initial list. General players cannot apply at this stage. From September 8, the server will be viewable via streams on Twitch, where viewers can earn up to GTA$1,500,000 and claim a Burger Shot Tracksuit by watching between September 8 and September 30.
  • Nopixel V includes a reworked character customisation system giving roleplayers more options for building unique characters, plus new city areas including the Pixel Hotel and Casino and a six-block revamp of Cypress Flats. Rockstar described the update as setting "the stage for new stories."
  • The timing arrives as GTA 6 edges closer to its November 19 launch. Nopixel V runs as a separate server from the mainline GTA Online and is built on GTA V, so the two are distinct products. No open beta or full release date has been announced yet.
