Hideo Kojima has revealed that Bill Skarsgård — best known for playing Pennywise in the It franchise — will star as the lead character in Physint, the action-espionage game that dramatically switched from PlayStation to Xbox just last week.

The details:

  • The announcement was made during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation. Skarsgård joins a previously confirmed cast that includes Charlee Fraser (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Don Lee (Train to Busan), and Minami Hamabe (Godzilla Minus One), with Kojima noting "there are still many exciting cast announcements to come."
  • Kojima described the game as "the culmination of more than 40 years of my career — a project that will redefine 'action-espionage', unbound by any existing genres in digital entertainment." He stated development "continues to make steady progress" and that casting and talent scans are also moving forward.
  • On the casting of Skarsgård, Kojima said: "We are both long-time fans of each other's work, and we've decided to embark on this new adventure together."
  • The Xbox publishing deal follows a turbulent few weeks for the project. In mid-June, Sony told Kojima Productions it was cancelling Physint; Kojima spent the next three months searching for a new partner before landing with Xbox. Sony's decision was later reported to be linked to Death Stranding and its sequel failing to meet revenue expectations.
