Despite Nintendo's request that participants not reveal any details about its mystery playtest, players have not only revealed the project involved, but are now broadcasting gameplay online.

The details:

  • Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that 10,000 Switch Online users would be invited to participate in a playtest, but no further details were provided. The company requested that participants not post anything about the game online, but earlier this week, it was revealed that the project was a social MMO-style title for the Switch alongside a number of new screenshots.

  • Unsurprisingly, the leaks have become even more extreme since the test began today, with some players opting to stream the game on Twitch, YouTube, and X. Nintendo appears to have ordered the removal of some of the streams and even the channels behind them, but clips of the game have continued to circulate on social media, and some players have switched to streaming in Discord servers.

  • The footage shared online confirms that the game features MMO and building elements, which appear to be inspired by titles such as World of Warcraft, Minecraft, Dragon Quest Builders, and past Nintendo first-party games. However, participants have stated that while the test is still "very barebones," it feels premium, supports a "lot" of players in each world, and has the potential to be a solid release overall.
