Mojang has officially released a native PS5 version of Minecraft after requiring players to play the PS4 version for four years, bringing the game's features in line with those available on the Xbox Series X/S.
The details:
With the release of the “Bundles of Bravery” update, Minecraft now has a PS5 version, offering technical improvements such as the introduction of 4K 60FPS support. The game also has further render distances, similar to the Xbox Series X/S, and, like the PS4 version, can be played cross-platform with other Bedrock Edition players on PC, consoles, and mobile.
The PS5 version costs $19.99 both digitally and physically, but owners of a PS4 Bedrock copy can download it for free. If a player has a digital copy of Minecraft, they can simply download it from the PlayStation Store using the account used to purchase the PS4 version, whereas those who own a physical copy can play it as long as the PS4 disc is in their console.
As for what’s new with the Bundles of Bravery update, the fan-favorite "Hardcore mode" from Minecraft Java Edition is now available in Bedrock, giving players only one life on the hard difficulty, which means they can no longer play on a world if they die. The second major change is the introduction of bundles, which can be used to store multiple items in a single inventory slot, with each bundle offering 64 slots that vary depending on the size of an item stack.
