The live-action Legend of Zelda movie has had its release date moved forward and is now due in cinemas worldwide on April 30, 2027.

The details:

  • Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto took to the company’s X account to confirm that the film will be released worldwide on April 30, 2027, a week earlier than the previously scheduled May 7 date. Nintendo says the team is pushing to complete the film as soon as possible and wants to deliver it to audiences “even one day sooner.”
  • The film was originally set to be released on March 26, 2027, before being delayed to May 7 last year due to production reasons.
  • The film is a live-action adaptation of Nintendo’s iconic The Legend of Zelda game series and is being produced in partnership with Sony Pictures, following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Directed by Wes Ball, the film will star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda.
