Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Apex Legends will no longer be supported on the original Nintendo Switch this summer, with players being forced to move to other platforms, such as the Switch 2, to continue playing.

The details:

  • As announced on X, Season 29 will be the final season of Apex Legends on Switch, with no further content updates planned for the original system. From August 4, 2026, the launch of Season 30 of Apex Legends will no longer be playable on the aging console as its servers will be taken offline.
  • However, the shutdown will not affect the Switch 2 port, which Respawn says will continue to receive new content and updates including future seasons alongside the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions. The studio added that the decision is a part of its plans to “deliver a high-quality experience” and thanked Nintendo for its investment in the Switch 2.
  • Players can keep playing on Nintendo Switch and earning rewards as normal right up until August 4, giving them several more months to finish up battle passes, complete events, and move their accounts to another system. In-game premium currency will remain purchasable on Switch until the cutoff, but after support ends, any remaining Apex Coins will be available on other platforms as long as players are signed in to the same EA account.
