Sony and Nintendo's live-action Zelda film has added four more cast members ahead of its April 2027 release, including Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf and Dichen Lachman as Impa. The announcement also confirms that the late Sam Neill completed his role in the film before his death in July, making it one of his final screen appearances.

The details:

  • According to Deadline, Uli Latukefu, best known for his role in Young Rock, has been cast as Ganondorf in a multi-picture deal. The film is directed by Wes Ball and stars Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, with a release date of April 30, 2027.
  • Dichen Lachman will play Impa, the loyal bodyguard and advisor to Princess Zelda. Yvonne Strahovski has also joined the cast in the role of a queen, reported to be a figure not previously seen in the games.
  • Sam Neill, who died on July 13, 2026 at the age of 78 from pneumonia in Sydney, filmed his role before principal photography wrapped in April 2026. His specific character has not been officially confirmed, though reports suggest he plays a royal figure. The Zelda film will be one of several posthumous appearances for Neill, alongside Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort.
