Nintendo has officially announced a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, with a release planned for later this year.

The details:

  • The remake was revealed during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct with a short teaser, confirming that the 1998 N64 classic has been rebuilt for Switch 2 and is scheduled to launch in 2026, lining up with the 40th anniversary of the franchise.
  • OoTโ€™s remake will feature entirely new graphics and animations, qualityโ€‘ofโ€‘life upgrades such as modernized controls, UI changes, accessibility options, and more.
  • The reveal trailer opens in Kokiri Forest with a narrated intro from the Great Deku Tree and shows off the gameโ€™s more realistic look compared to the original game and the 3DS version of OoT.
