Nintendo has officially announced a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, with a release planned for later this year.
The details:
The remake was revealed during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct with a short teaser, confirming that the 1998 N64 classic has been rebuilt for Switch 2 and is scheduled to launch in 2026, lining up with the 40th anniversary of the franchise.
OoT’s remake will feature entirely new graphics and animations, quality‑of‑life upgrades such as modernized controls, UI changes, accessibility options, and more.
The reveal trailer opens in Kokiri Forest with a narrated intro from the Great Deku Tree and shows off the game’s more realistic look compared to the original game and the 3DS version of OoT.
