Nintendo announces Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct for January 25

Nintendo has announced a dedicated Nintendo Direct for this weekend focused entirely on the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The details:

• The showcase will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm GMT, where Nintendo will reveal new information about the upcoming film. The film, animated by Illumination, will be released in the United States and other territories on April 3, 2026, and serves as a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. in 2023. Movie.

• An earlier Nintendo Direct held in November confirmed two new characters for the sequel: Rosalina, who will be voiced by Brie Larson (best known for her role as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and Bowser Jr, who will be voiced by Benny Safdie, the filmmaker and actor behind The Smashing Machine and Uncut Gems.
• A Direct held in November confirmed that Rosalina and Bowser Jr. would make an appearance in the film, voiced by Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson and Uncut Gems filmmaker Benny Safdie, respectively. Mario voice actor Chris Pratt also confirmed that more unannounced characters will appear, though he did not share any further details.
