Hideo Kojima's espionage title Physint is at least five years away, director confirms

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Physint, his upcoming espionage game, is five to six years away as he discusses his potential post-game development plans.
The details:
In an interview with French magazine Le Film Français (via ResetEra), Kojima discussed A24's upcoming Death Stranding film adaptation and was asked if he was interested in directing his own film in the future. The legendary film buff revealed that he had received offers following his infamous departure from Konami in 2015, but that a possible career as a movie director would have to wait until his upcoming game projects were completed.
Kojima once again confirmed that he is currently working on several new games, including Death Stranding 2 and Physint, with the former arriving later this year. However, he made no mention of OD, his Microsoft-backed Xbox exclusive horror game, but this may be due to Sony’s backing of Death Stranding 2. “Besides Death Stranding 2, there is Physint in development,” he said. “That will take me another five or six years. Maybe after that, I could finally decide to tackle a film. I grew up with cinema. Directing would be a kind of homage to it. Besides, I’m getting older, and I would prefer to do it while still young.”
Physint was revealed during a PlayStation State of Play livestream in January 2024, and was described as a "completely new 'Action Espionage' for the next-generation." The game will be the third original IP from post-Konami Kojima Productions, and will enter development following the release of Death Stranding 2.
