Final Fantasy 14 launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026, bringing Square Enix's long-running MMO to the platform for the first time. To mark the launch, both versions of the Complete Edition are discounted to $41.99 / £31.49 (down from $59.99 / £44.99) until August 13. Square Enix is also waiving subscription fees for approximately one month to help ensure a stable launch period.

The details:

  • After the initial waived period ends, players will receive a 30-day free play period that activates when registering a new platform. A paid subscription is required once that free time runs out.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 version requires its own separate subscription, even for players already subscribed on PC or console. However, if you have remaining paid game time on another platform, the Switch 2 subscription is available at half price.
  • Nintendo Switch Online is not required to play Final Fantasy 14. However, players with an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription get one exclusive in-game perk: a second free aetheryte destination, meaning they can teleport to it at no gil cost.
  • Subscription fees on Switch 2 are handled through FFXIV Coins, a dedicated currency purchased from the Nintendo eShop. These coins can be used on the Mog Station for subscription payments and account services, or on the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store for optional items.
  • Players linking existing accounts should take care during setup: once a Nintendo account is linked to a Square Enix account on Switch 2, the link cannot be undone or transferred to another account.
