Nintendo has unexpectedly released an upgraded Nintendo Switch 2 port of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, available now on the eShop with a physical version launching in April.

The details:

  • As announced on Thursday, the Switch 2 Edition of the game is now available digitally via the eShop. Players who already own the Switch 1 version of Xenoblade Chronicles X can purchase the upgrade for a discounted price of just $5. A physical version of the port will be available on April 16 worldwide.
  • According to the announcement, the title features notable performance improvements and can achieve up to 60 FPS at 4K resolution in the console’s docked TV mode, and in 1080p when played in handhand form. However, it appears that there is no new content or settings additions beyond the technical upgrades.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released on the Wii U, but remained the only title in the series that was not available on the Switch until the launch of Definitive Edition last year. The updated port not only brought several technical improvements, but also new content, quality of life changes, and story additions.
