Nintendo has announced Xenoblade Genesis, a “new beginning” for the Xenoblade series coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

The details:

  • As announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, Xenoblade Genesis is described as a brand‑new mainline entry set in a new world, stepping away from the completed Chronicles trilogy to start a fresh storyline and mythology.
  • The debut trailer shows off the game’s open environments and real‑time combat and gives us a look at its female protagonist, who appears to be a student at a school called Leukos, studying the power of Anima and the Vesselai warriors that wield it.
  • Alongside the reveal, Nintendo and Monolith Soft announced Switch 2 upgrades for Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3, which will arrive this year. The updated ports will feature 4K 60 FPS gameplay (via DLSS), visual improvements, and new content so that the entire series will be playable on Switch 2 ahead of Genesis.
