Yesterday, EA officially unveiled gameplay of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer mode, giving fans hours of footage to check out during its influencer-filled event, confirming that several beloved systems from past titles will be included in the game.

The details:

  • Following the release of the game’s first cinematic trailer last week, BF6’s multiplayer was revealed during a multi-hour-long livestream yesterday featuring a number of popular influencers. The event allowed fans to see several game modes ranging from Squad Deathmatch to Conquest across various maps set in locations such as Cairo and New York.
  • We also got a good look at the returning class system from past Battlefield titles, mainly drawing inspiration from BF4. Gone are the specialists and the ability to use any weapon across all characters, with Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon offering their own suite of guns, gadgets, and traits. For example, Recon players can use sniper rifles and automatically tag enemies when aiming.
  • Meanwhile, gunplay and its movement mechanics are more in line with those found in 2042, allowing players to lie on their back after being revived to shoot back at opponents or dive through windows in intense gunfights. Destruction is also a major component of the series again, this time being improved to allow squads to destroy floors, walls, and more to gain the advantage with explosives or a new sledgehammer gadget.
  • One final announcement from the event was the reveal of its battle royale mode, which will be coming to the Battlefield Labs playtest program. It has been claimed in past leaks that the map is based in California and will tackle the typical battle royale issue of camping by making the circle constantly move with the surrounding gas, causing immediate death.
