Insomniac Games and PlayStation have finally confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine will be released for PlayStation 5 in September.

The details:

  • As announced via social media, the long-awaited title will officially launch on September 15, 2026, with fans able to wishlist the game via the PlayStation Store.
  • The announcement comes just over four years after the game was originally revealed at The Game Awards 2021 with a brief cinematic trailer, before it was followed by a new trailer last year and another teaser in the latest State of Play. So far, it has been confirmed that JD Fenix actor Liam Mcintyre will play the titular character, and that the game will feature characters such as Omega Red and Mystique and various locations from Wolverine’s comic and movie appearances, including Japan and the fictional Southeast Asian island of Madripoor.
  • The release date also means that Marvel’s Wolverine’s launch will avoid clashing with that of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is set to release just two months later in November. GTA 6 is expected to be the biggest video game launch in history, causing publishers to plan their schedules around it to avoid any conflicts.
