Blizzard has Overwatch Rush, a new top-down hero shooter coming to mobile set in the Overwatch universe.

The details:

  • The game was announced today with a four-minute gameplay preview showcasing 4v4 battles on a new version of the map Busan, featuring heroes such as Tracer, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, Mercy, Reaper, Lucio, and Pharah. Overwatch Rush is currently in early development, and Blizzard is yet to provide any details regarding its release.
  • The title features slower gameplay compared to Overwatch, making it more suitable for virtual touch controls, but each match is designed to be “bite-sized” to be played on the go. Each hero has abilities adapted from their original counterparts that better suit the new format, with Mercy’s staff being swapped out for her blaster as a default weapon, while her new ultimate provides healing and damage to a set area.
  • OW Rush's progression system allows players to earn mastery levels as they play each hero, which unlocks new character mods and talents. Mods include minor improvements such as reduced cooldowns and bonus health, whereas talents make significant changes to hero abilities. Unlike Overwatch, players cannot swap heroes in the middle of a match, but they can change their loadout between rounds.
