This marks the second wave of layoffs at the developer in February alone.

Riot Games has confirmed yet another round of layoffs, affecting 12 positions within its game publishing division.

The details:

  • According to a company spokesperson in a statement provided to Game Developer, the layoffs affected 12 employees across three distinct publishing teams, with the company describing the move as part of its ongoing efforts to refocus its resources on its main projects.
  • The spokesperson added that the layoffs also coincide with several "small team-by-team changes" affecting a small number of employees in unspecified areas of the company.
  • This marks yet another wave of cuts at Riot over the past three years, with hundreds of employees affected across various teams. The company previously laid off 530 employees in January 2024 alongside the closure of its Riot Forge indie publishing label and let go of approximately 80 employees from the 2XKO development team earlier this month due to the game's underwhelming commercial performance.
