It has been claimed that Ubisoft is aiming to release its rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag in March 2026 and that the game will feature new content that was absent from the original 2013 title.

The details:

  • Over the last few years, it has been speculated that Ubisoft was working on a remake of the fan-favorite pirate title as part of its larger plans to heavily invest in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Despite no official confirmation of its existence, the actor who plays protagonist Edward Kenway hinted that it would be announced soon and later claimed that Ubisoft had threatened legal action as a result.
  • According to a new video from French publication Jeux Vidéo Magazine, anonymous sources have said that although Ubisoft is aiming for a March release, it’s currently unknown if the target will be met, as there is still a considerable amount of work to do. The sources also shared that the remake is being developed by Skull and Bones studio Ubisoft Singapore, with Ubisoft’s studios in Bordeaux and Belgrade contributing to the project.
  • It’s claimed that the remake will incorporate some significant changes based on fan feedback from the original game. This includes removing the modern-day segments of the story, which will be replaced with more pirate content, amounting to approximately four hours of additional content.
  • According to sources, the game is being developed using Ubisoft's Anvil engine and will include more RPG mechanics found in recent Assassin's Creed titles such as Odyssey and Origins. This includes an inventory system as well as more detailed equipment statistics.
