Ubisoft is removing the Ubisoft Connect launcher requirement for its Steam games

The details:

• The change is being rolled out via a new tool called Ubisoft Connect Services, which integrates Ubisoft's online features directly into Steam without requiring the separate launcher to be installed or open.
• Features including cross-progression, cross-play, challenges, and rewards will all be retained through the new system. The rollout begins with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and will expand to more titles over time.
• Ubisoft Connect as a launcher has long been a friction point for Steam players, who were required to have it installed and running even when purchasing and launching Ubisoft games through Steam.
