Ubisoft has shared new details on several upcoming Assassin's Creed projects, including the highly anticipated Black Flag remake, Hexe, Invictus, and Jade.

The details:

  • As reported by VGC, Assassin’s Creed’s new head of content, Jean Guesdon, provided an update on multiple Assassin's Creed titles that are currently in development under the newly established Tencent-backed Vantage Studios.
  • Assassin's Creed Hexe, a single-player title set during the 17th-century Holy Roman Empire, is still in the works. After losing its creative director last week, Guesdon has confirmed that he has now stepped into the role, with the project developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The director added that fans can “expect a unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience, set during a pivotal moment in history.”
  • Meanwhile, multiplayer title Assassin's Creed Invictus is “progressing steadily with a test and learn approach.” Guesdon did not provide many new details but stated that the game “isn’t quite what the rumors have suggested,” with the team looking to build around player feedback.
  • The last confirmed game, Assassin's Creed Jade, is a mobile open-world RPG developed in partnership with Tencent's Level Infinite studio. Despite being delayed, the project is still in development, with Ubisoft looking to reintroduce co-op gameplay to the franchise. “While we recently chose to pivot away from an early project, the lessons from that work are already helping shape our approach going forward,” he said. “What matters most to us is giving each project the time it deserves and releasing them when they are ready.”
  • Lastly, the executive hinted that we could see an official reveal of the long-rumored Black Flag remake soon. “Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: ‘Nothing is true. Everything is permitted," he wrote. “Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.” Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced recently appeared on a ratings board and on Amazon, suggesting that a launch is coming this year.
