Nintendo's September 2026 Direct ran for 45 minutes and covered a packed slate running through the rest of 2026 and deep into 2027, with highlights including a new Metroid, the first open-world Kirby game, and Persona 6's first official tease. Here's everything announced.

Monster Hunter Wilds

  • Capcom's 2025 hit is coming to Switch 2 on December 4, including all previous title updates and local play support
  • The Ascendance expansion, announced at Gamescom, will also come to Switch 2 in 2027

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

  • Reconfirmed for Switch 2 alongside all other versions, launching April 8, 2027

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion

  • Square Enix's 2022 remaster of the FF7 prequel launched on Switch 2 immediately following the Direct, with no prior announcement

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity — Definitive Edition

  • Includes all previously released expansion pass content, a new harder Calamity Mode with tougher enemies and reduced healing, 60fps output, and GameShare support for co-op across two systems with one copy
  • Existing digital owners of the original can upgrade at a discount and carry over their save data
  • Launches February 25, 2027

Meccha Chameleon

  • A port of the popular online hide-and-seek game where players paint themselves to blend into environments while hunters track them down with shotguns
  • The Switch 2 version adds crossplay support and Joy-Con mouse mode; launched same-day for $4.79 (rising to $5.99 after September 16)

Pokémon Pokopia: Expansion Pass Part 2

  • The second of three planned expansions for the Pokémon life-sim RPG, coming in 2026
  • New details include accessory customisation for Ditto

Star Fox — free Battle Mode update

  • A free update adding four-player split-screen and three new battle mode stages, arriving September 30
  • Star Fox Adventures (GameCube) was also added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack GameCube library immediately

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered

  • A major free upgrade for existing owners featuring upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, revamped movement, a skill tree overhaul, ray tracing, new finishers, and cross-platform mod support
  • Mouse, gyro, and touchscreen controls supported on Switch 2; Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine now included free for all owners
  • Launches September 29

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Royal Edition

  • The complete edition of Warhorse's medieval RPG is coming to Switch 2 in 2027

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave

  • Set in the same world as Three Houses, Fortune's Weave features four playable protagonists — Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda — each with their own story route through a tournament where the winner earns a wish granted by the gods
  • Launches September 17

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

  • Set one year after The Unwound Future, the game takes Layton and Luke to Steam Bison, America, where a mysterious incident kicks off a new adventure in a city powered by advanced steam technology
  • Launches December 10 on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC — earlier than the 2027 window many expected

Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain

  • Confirmed to be in development for Switch 2; no further details or release date shown

Pikmin 4 — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy

  • The Switch 2 version adds voice commands via the built-in mic — players can issue nine spoken commands to Oatchi, including praising him for a job well done
  • Dandori Academy is a new time trial mode with 72 stages released gradually, with official scored exams held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays that can be compared against friends online
  • Launches November 12

Onyx: The Dark Grip

  • A new Switch 2-exclusive adventure from Bloober Team (Silent Hill 2 remake, Layers of Fear), featuring touchscreen support
  • Launches 2027

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

  • Adds a new hero named Shimmer, an Attacker using quick combos, powerful strikes, and a Foresight ability
  • Heroes' Vault is a new Survivors-like mode with a top-down view, where players battle waves of enemies and bosses while gaining buffs and recruiting allies
  • Runs at 4K/60fps in TV mode; upgrade pack available for $9.99 for existing owners
  • Launches December 3

Stage Fright

  • A new game from the makers of Overcooked, coming to Switch and Switch 2 in 2027

Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea

  • The next expansion for the cosy Disney life-sim, launching November 2026

Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale

  • A colourful new title coming to Switch 2 in 2027; no further details announced

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

  • The well-received LEGO Batman entry comes to Switch 2 on September 18

Kirby Air Riders — new amiibo

  • New amiibo figures for the recently released Kirby Air Riders announced, launching November 12

Cairn

  • The climbing adventure from The Game Bakers is coming to Switch 2 in early 2027; a free demo launched immediately following the Direct

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition

  • All three RE Engine remakes arrive on Switch 2 simultaneously on October 16 digitally, with physical editions following in January 2027
  • All include their respective DLC content

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

  • Confirmed for Switch 2 alongside all other versions, launching February 12, 2027

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

  • Features 12 sports including returning events from Wii Sports Resort (Archery, Table Tennis, Power Cruising) and Nintendo Switch Sports (Tennis, Bowling, Golf, Volleyball), plus new additions including skateboarding, boxing, thumb wrestling, and jump rope
  • Uses Joy-Con 2 motion and mouse controls; features an open Wuhu Island to freely explore and a new solo mode called Island Crown
  • Launches October 22; $59.99 physical / $49.99 digital

Metroid Ravenous

  • The sixth mainline Metroid and the Direct's standout announcement, and the first 2D entry since Dread
  • Samus is stranded on a moon after a mysterious attack leaves her gravely injured, and must absorb energy from creatures to survive — a mechanic that feeds into the game's new combat abilities including parrying, water running, mid-air warping, and enemy-feeding finishers
  • Supports 120Hz output, HDR, and surround sound; amiibo and a Special Edition with steel case announced
  • Launches January 28, 2027

Mario Kart World — free retro update

  • A substantial free update adding courses from the original Super Mario Kart, including Choco Island and Vanilla Lake, plus new Knockout Tour content
  • Available immediately

Mega Man: Dual Override

  • A new trailer revealed the game's first Robot Master, Twinkle Girl, and confirmed the return of Proto Man; two new amiibo announced

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection

Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX

  • The beloved PSP card game returns on Switch and Switch 2, launching February 16, 2027

Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United

  • A remake of Square Enix's cult RPG with upgraded visuals, coming to Switch and Switch 2 on February 16, 2027

Persona 4 Revival

  • Atlus's full remake of Persona 4 Golden confirmed for Switch 2, launching May 20, 2027

Persona 6

  • A logo-only teaser confirmed the next mainline Persona is coming to Nintendo Switch 2; no release date or gameplay shown
  • Despite the Steam achievement leak earlier this week revealing it's set in Yokohama with a group called Hex, Atlus gave nothing away

Kirby and the World Beyond

  • The first open-world Kirby game and the Direct's closing announcement, developed by HAL Laboratory to mark the series' 35th anniversary
  • Players explore a vast open zone, using bomb jumps, sword abilities, and world-breaking mechanics to smash through the fabric of Kirby's world and discover what lies beyond its apparent boundaries
  • Nintendo teased more Kirby 35th anniversary content to come; launches Spring 2027
