Nintendo is holding a major digital US sale and says tariff refunds made it possible

The details:

• The sale offers 30% off dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles, plus discounts on select physical games, DLC, accessories, amiibo, and apparel. Nintendo is describing it as "one of our largest promotions ever."
• Nintendo says the discounts are funded in part by refunds it received after suing the US Government over what it considered the illegal implementation of trade tariffs — a suit filed alongside more than 1,000 other companies. "Nintendo absorbed most tariff-related costs," it said, "the refunds helped make promotions like this one possible."
• The backdrop is notable: Nintendo previously raised Switch hardware prices in the US due to tariffs, with the Switch Lite up $30, the Switch up $40, and the Switch OLED up $50. Two players subsequently sued Nintendo, arguing those refunds should go to customers. Nintendo successfully argued in court that buyers "received exactly what they bargained and paid for."
