It has been claimed that Ubisoft's long-rumored Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake is scheduled to launch before March 31, 2026.

The details:

  • As reported by Insider Gaming, the information comes from Ubisoft's recently published financial results for the first half of its 2025-2026 fiscal year, which shows an "unannounced title" planned for release before the end of Q4, alongside confirmed games like Anno 117: Pax Romana and The Division Resurgence. It’s possible that the remake could be announced at The Game Awards, which will take place on December 11.
  • While Ubisoft has yet to officially acknowledge the existence of the Black Flag remake, voice actor Matt Ryan, who portrayed protagonist Edward Kenway in the original game, hinted at the project earlier this year when speaking to a fan. This eventually led to the publisher threatening Ryan with legal action, indicating that the project is in the works.
  • It was previously reported that the remake is being developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the studio behind Skull and Bones, with support from Ubisoft Bordeaux and Ubisoft Belgrade. It’s said that the project is being built using Ubisoft’s Anvil engine and will incorporate more RPG-style mechanics found in newer Assassin’s Creed games while removing the game’s modern-day segments.
