Ubisoft has confirmed that New Game Plus is in development for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, responding to what has quickly become the remake's most requested post-launch feature. The mode has no release date yet, but the game director says work is already underway.

The details:

  • Game director Richard Knight confirmed the mode in a recent interview with YouTuber JonRaptor, stating: "We're working on that right now." He added that Assassin's Creed Shadows had already built its own New Game Plus implementation, making it a lower-risk feature for the team to tackle, though he stopped short of committing to a specific timeline.
  • Knight noted that discussions are still ongoing internally about what rewards and carry-over mechanics New Game Plus will include, and how much development time those additions will require.
  • Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9 and sold 2 million copies in its first day, making it the highest-concurrently-played Assassin's Creed game in Steam history. The strong reception has given Ubisoft clear commercial reason to invest in post-launch content.
  • The confirmation comes alongside a difficult week for the remake's developer. Ubisoft Barcelona, which handled the game's underwater exploration and tech, is currently on a three-day strike to protest 51 job cuts that were announced before the game even launched.
