Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 celebrates two million players at launch
Following the game's release on September 9, publisher Focus Entertainment confirmed that more than two million players have jumped into Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 across all platforms.
The details:
The publisher celebrated the milestone in a post on X, thanking fans. "TWO MILLION Space Marines have joined the fight to protect the Imperium in #SpaceMarine2. We're so grateful!" Focus wrote. The game has also become the most successful Warhammer launch on Steam, with 225,690 concurrent players on Saturday (via SteamDB), surpassing Total War: Warhammer 3's peak of 166,754.
Although Focus has not broken down player distribution across platforms, the two million figure is likely to include those who took advantage of the Premium Edition owners' early access, which allowed them to play the game on September 5.
Focus has also confirmed that updates addressing the game's main issues are on the way, such as ultrawide support, private PVE lobbies, and the addition of a sparring area on the Battle Barge.
The long-awaited sequel to the original 2011 title has received critical acclaim for its stunning visuals and engaging co-op shooter gameplay, which is a significant improvement over the first game. A pre-release build of the game was leaked online in July, and despite developer Saber Interactive's request that fans not download it, some discovered that it was fully playable and were even able to get online multiplayer up and running.
