Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment has announced that Julian Gerighty, the executive producer of The Division series, is departing the studio to join Battlefield Studios at EA.

The details:

  • Gerighty, who served as the creative director on The Division and Star Wars Outlaws, is moving to EA to join Battlefield 6 developer Battlefield Studio. While his new role is unconfirmed, the move comes shortly after the death of Battlefield franchise boss Vince Zampella, who died in a car accident in December, suggesting that it could be a position among the team’s leadership.
  • In a statement, Ubisoft confirmed the departure but reassured fans that The Division's future remains on track as development on the third mainline entry continues. “While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive, and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come,” the publisher said on X. “For our players, don’t worry, Agents. Our teams who built this world with Julian are still here, carrying it forward with an ambitious, unchanged commitment for the future with The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3.”
  • Ubisoft has named several replacements for all of Gerighty's responsibilities, with franchise veterans Yannick Banchereau and Mathias Karlson continuing as creative directors for The Division 2 and The Division 3, respectively. Meanwhile, 20+ year Massive veteran and "one of the original creative voices of the franchise," Magnus Jansen, has rejoined the studio to lead The Division 2: Survivors, the game’s extraction mode.
