New documents from Dambuster Studios have confirmed that Dead Island 3 is now in development and is targeting a release in 2028.

The details:

  • According to new financial documents spotted by X user @bogorad222, all of Dambuster’s developers are now working on the title, with its QA staff set to join the project soon. "Parts of the game are now in early production with feature, character, world and story design moving at pace," the report reads.
  • The document also reveals that the game is targeting a release in “Q1/2 2028,” meaning that should development go as expected, we can expect a launch prior to the end of June 2028. This is over five years after the release of its predecessor, which went through several iterations and studios before landing at Dambuster.
  • The studio teased Dead Island 3 in a Steam post back in September, featuring artwork indicating that the franchise will once again feature a new setting. “Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next,” the post reads. “For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak is far from over…”
