Screenshots from Bluepoint Games' cancelled God of War multiplayer project have surfaced online, offering a first look at the live-service title that would have returned to the franchise’s Greek mythology roots.

The details:

  • As reported by MP1st, the leaked images showcase various in-game environments, including Greek temples, caverns, and an armory belonging to Hades in two different states. The outlet did not share the origin of the screenshots, but it is worth noting that the environments are clearly from the early stages of development.
  • While we don’t know much about the title, the images do raise some questions about its story. Hades was introduced in the first God of War title but wouldn’t become a major antagonist until its third entry, in which he is killed by Kratos. As the armory would’ve been owned by the god of the Underworld, it suggests that the game may have taken place before the events of God of War 3 or was possibly set in a different timeline that leaned further into Greek mythology rather than the Norse mythology of the PS4 reboot.
  • Sony cancelled the project in January 2025 alongside another live-service title from Bend Studio, following a "recent review" of the company's strategy after the catastrophic failure of Concord. Despite the cancellation, Bluepoint is already working on another project, with job listings at the studio looking for candidates with experience in developing "third-person melee action" games, suggesting a remake of the original God of War could be in the works.
