Sony Santa Monica Studio is said to be developing a new franchise within the God of War universe, according to details shared by a former writer at the studio.

The details:

  • As spotted by Resetera, the LinkedIn profile of a former narrative writer at the studio appears to have revealed that they had helped "shape narrative vision and creative direction at Sony Santa Monica Studio for a new franchise within the God of War universe, developing characters, storylines, and original lore that expanded the acclaimed IP,” for the past five years.
  • Reliable leaker Nate The Hate then confirmed that he had also heard that the project was set in the God of War universe and claimed that it follows Kratos’ wife Faye and will feature more action than the recent Norse saga games.
  • Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier recently reported that PlayStation had planned to "support several [God of War] sequels and spinoffs, like its own smaller version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” He also stated that Santa Monica Studios’ next game is "not a new IP, but it might feel like one,” suggesting that it could be a significant departure from past God of War titles.
  • Kratos voice actor Christopher Judge recently shared that his next video game appearance would be revealed in the summer, and with the God of War franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations currently ongoing, we could hear more about the project very soon.
