Nintendo has announced that it will unveil its next system by the end of the current fiscal year.

The details:

  • In a post to X, company president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that we would learn more about the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," which ends in March 2025. Shuntaro also stated that the June Nintendo Direct will not include any information related to the system and will instead focus on upcoming Switch releases.

  • Last year, it was reported that Nintendo showed the "Switch 2" behind closed doors at Gamescom, with tech demos showcasing significant performance improvements and the introduction of ray-tracing. It was also claimed that it was scheduled to arrive in 2024 but was delayed to 2025 due to internal issues.

  • Recent reports have stated that its screen will be larger, and its controllers will be a set of Joy-Cons that attach magnetically and have additional buttons. The console is also expected to be compatible with the original Switch's controllers and games.
