Sony reportedly phasing out PlayStation Network branding by September

It has been claimed that PlayStation is aiming to completely phase out the PlayStation Network brand over the next six months in a purely visual change.

The details:

  • As reported by Insider Gaming, an email sent by Sony Interactive Entertainment reveals that by September 2026, the company will retire the use of the PlayStation Network and PSN branding “in order to properly capture the breadth of our evolving digital services.”
  • It’s unknown what will be replacing the name for the platform’s online service, but the change will not impact its functionality. Players will be notified of the decision soon, and all aspects of the service, including friends, multiplayer, and trophies, will “remain unaffected and available to players.”
