Nintendo allegedly targeted in data breach, hackers claim
Nintendo

Hackers have claimed to have successfully breached Nintendo, stealing various internal documents.

The details:

  • As spotted by Eurogamer, X account Hackmanac, which claims to “track verified, real-world cyber attacks,” has reported that the Crimson Collective hacker group has successfully targeted Nintendo. The post also features a screenshot showing a list of folders that appear to include internal documents such as manuals, development and production assets, and more.
  • However, unlike past data breaches affecting Discord’s customer service partner and Insomniac Games, it’s unconfirmed if any customer or employee information has been accessed in the alleged attack.
  • While Nintendo has yet to respond to the claims officially, Crimson Collective is notably the same group behind the confirmed breach of enterprise IT consulting company Red Hat last month. The hack resulted in data related to over 5,000 clients being stolen, including major corporations such as American Express, Walmart, HSBC, and more.
