Nexon

Nexon has responded to plagiarism claims after it was discovered that The First Descendant's icons are similar to those found in Destiny 2, stating that they will be replaced in the near future.

The details:

  • Earlier this week, Forbes' Paul Tassi compiled an assortment of icons from the new looter shooter, which bear striking similarities to Destiny 2. When players dug deeper, some concluded that Nexon may have used Destiny icons that are incorrectly labeled as open-source on the icon database Iconduck, with minor changes.

  • Nexon has now responded to the claims in a statement to Forbes, stating that, while Destiny 2 served as inspiration for the game, it is "taking the concerns raised seriously" and will "ensure that the imagery that may appear similar clearly reflects the unique identity of the game".

  • The developer has yet to respond to accusations of directly copying mechanics from other games in the genre, with players claiming that its modding system is identical to Warframe's. Tassi also noted that one of the game's weapons is quite similar to Destiny 2's IKELOS sniper rifle and Sleeper Simulant exotic weapon and that a "little freeze orb" resembles a Ghost shell.
