Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 officially announced for November

After months of leaks and rumors, Activision has officially confirmed that 2023’s Call of Duty release will be a sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II.

The details:

• The title was announced by the publisher in a new abstract teaser trailer that featured a lot of red, glimpses of Captain Price, and our first look at the reboot's version of Russian Ultranationalist and antagonist Vladimir Makarov. The trailer also confirms previous rumors about the game's November 10 release date.
• The title will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, and it will be a direct continuation of last year's MWII, not only in terms of its campaign, but also of its multiplayer content, with weapons, operators, and other unlocks being carried over to the new release. Maps will reportedly be included in the transfer to MW3, which is expected to include remakes of fan-favorite maps from the original Modern Warfare franchise, such as Scrapyard and Terminal.
• A full reveal is expected to be shown within Warzone on August 17, according to rumors. It's expected to be very similar to MWII, with MW3 initially being reported to be "premium DLC" for the title earlier this year before Activision reportedly decided to continue its tradition of releasing new entries every year. Leaked screenshots from an in-development build of the game also revealed a nearly identical UI alongside iconic guns like the ACR and Uzi, as well as a new perk system based on gear like gloves, vests, boots, and helmets.

Before the layoffs, the company was working on new tools to run tournaments, and it has been suggested that esports will be handled by an external contractor in the future.
• Activision is suing TikTok user and music critic Anthony Fantano for "misusing" IP laws after he threatened to sue the company for using an audio clip in promotional content. According to the publisher, Fantano requested that the video be removed from the company's official TikTok page and that the company pay him a "six-figure sum" as a settlement.
