Update:

Minutes after the original article was released, Activision officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will arrive on October 23, 2026, across Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and for the first time ever, Nintendo Switch 2.

The title is set in Korea and will center on a squad of young South Korean soldiers amid a war with the North's DPRK, with Captain Price returning in an adjacent storyline. Developer Infinity Ward states that it will be "a new technical benchmark” for the franchise, with the DMZ multiplayer mode making its return since its debut in 2022's Modern Warfare 2.

Original article:

Reports claim this year’s Call of Duty, expected to be Modern Warfare 4, will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, which would mark the series’ first appearance on a Nintendo console in 13 years.

  • According to insider Nate the Hate on Reddit, MW4 will be the first Call of Duty game on Nintendo since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts on Wii U. This aligns with Microsoft's 10-year commitment to bring "the same game with the same content" to Nintendo platforms as part of its Activision acquisition.
  • Separate datamines of Call of Duty HQ code back in January found references to Nintendo platforms alongside Xbox and PlayStation, leading fans to believe that Activision could announce the port alongside the upcoming MW4 reveal, with Infinity Ward recently posting a teaser for the title.
  • So far, little is known about the game outside of it being a Modern Warfare entry likely set in Korea. However, Activision has already confirmed that it is the first game in the franchise since the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S that will not be coming to last-generation consoles.
