Ubisoft has announced that a “very talented” team is currently working on the “future” of the Rayman series after years of silence from the publisher regarding the popular platforming franchise.

The details:

  • The news was shared in a new post to the franchise's long-dormant X account ahead of Rayman’s 30th anniversary on September 7. "Rayman turns 30! Join us on our official channels to celebrate an incredible legacy," the post reads, along with a short video from brand producer Loic Gounon.
  • In the video, Gounon recapped the history of the series, which began back in 1995 with the release of the original Rayman on the PlayStation, developed by Ubisoft Montpellier. Since then, the publisher’s other studios based in Paris, Annecy, and Milan have also contributed to the franchise, with Ubisoft now planning to share behind-the-scenes content such as concept art, interviews, and more to celebrate the anniversary.
  • With no new mainline entry since 2013’s Rayman Legends, fans have been begging for the return of the unique mascot, and luckily, it appears that a new title could be on the way. According to Gounon, a “very talented” team consisting of Ubisoft Milan and Montpellier are “currently working together on the future of Rayman," though he warned that fans shouldn’t expect more news to come soon.
  • Over the years, Rayman has been pushed to the sidelines, with the spin-off Rabbids series becoming much more popular in recent years, even spawning a crossover with Nintendo’s Mario. However, Ubisoft did resurrect the character last year for a new NFT game, which was unsurprisingly met with backlash from fans.
