PlayStation announces 007 First Light-focused State of Play for Wednesday
IO Interactive

PlayStation has announced that it will host a State of Play showcase focused on 007 First Light, giving fans another look at IO Interactive’s upcoming Bond title.

The details:

  • The State of Play will be broadcast live on Wednesday, September 3, at 11 a.m. PT/7 p.m. BST/8 p.m. CEST across the official PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels.
  • Lasting over 30 minutes, the showcase will focus entirely on IO’s upcoming title, giving fans their first look at gameplay from James Bond’s origin story. "In this upcoming State of Play, tune in for over 30 minutes of gameplay featuring a playthrough of Bond’s first mission as an MI6 recruit," IO wrote. “The action includes everything from high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts. Stay tuned after the playthrough for insights from IO Interactive on the intense espionage gameplay.”
  • First revealed back in June, the project has been in the works for years, with IO CEO Hakan Abrak stating as far back as 2021 that it would be the beginning of a new original Bond trilogy. "It's not a gamification of a movie," Abrak said in last year. "It's completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it's a new Bond. It's a Bond we built from the ground up for gamers.”
